The Satellite: Pop-up Art At Its Finest

The Satellite is a pop-up gallery and event space at CityPlace in West Palm Beach. This space was put together by the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County and includes art exhibitions, a visitor center, and space for special events such as the Art & Design Lecture Series which started in November and is continuing through March. Check out the previous and upcoming lectures below.

  • November 17, 2018: Palm Beach County in the 20th Century featuring Rose Guerrero
  • December 15, 2018: Imagining Florida: History and Myth in the Sunshine State featuring Lanya Snyder
  • January 12, 2019: How Public Art Transforms Spaces and Places featuring a panel discussion from Craig McInnis, Eddie Mendieta, Tim D. Carter, and Ashley Capps moderated by Art Hive Magazine
  • February 22, 2019: The Art of Space featuring Debra Yates and Benjamin Burle
  • March 14, 2019: Elvis in Palm Beach featuring Bruce Helander

As you can see this lecture series has hosted a variety of artists and speakers. Coming up in February award-winning designers Debra Yates and Benjamin Burle will be sharing images of their outdoor rooms and environmentally friendly spaces as well as discussing their design philosophy. Then, in March, Bruce Helander a world-renowned collage artist will close out the lecture series. Be sure to mark these upcoming lectures on your calendar. The lecture series is free for members and $10 for non-members.

Immerse Yourself in Art with Insider Art Tours by Gravity

You can explore West Palm Beach with new eyes during the Insider Art Tours by Gravity. This tour is a guided walking tour that points out different art installations around downtown West Palm Beach and explains the meaning behind the various art installation and murals that you have probably walked past many times before. Be sure to bring your curiosity and your camera when you take part in this event!

Asian Cultural Festival 2019

The Asian Cultural Festival is a three-day chance to learn about and experience different aspects of Asian culture through dance performances, music, martial arts, food, and fun. The festival kicks off on Friday, February 22nd, and goes through Sunday the 24th. On Friday and Saturday, the schedule includes the following music and dance performances:

  • 5 pm – 6 pm (dance performances)
  • 6 pm – 6:30 pm (music)
  • 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm (dance performances)
  • 7:30 pm – 8:00 pm (music)
  • 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm (dance performances)
On Sunday, February 24th, you can experience a wide variety of dance and musical performances from the various featured groups listed below.
