Collaboration: African Diaspora Exhibition at CityPlace

Art and culture are an integral part of South Florida, and they are an important part of CityPlace. That is why CityPlace brings you new art and culture exhibitions each month.

There is a new art exhibition coming to CityPlace in September. The exhibition is called Collaboration: African Diaspora. ATB Fine Artists & Designers LLC is bringing this exhibition, however, Collaboration: African Diaspora features over 38 different artists. This exhibition is a ten-day event. Throughout the ten days, people can experience art, music, literature, and food related to African culture. Several other events are happening alongside the exhibition, and you can learn more about them below.

AFRICAN DIASPORA EXHIBITION

Thursday, September 13th – This is the beginning of the Collaboration: African Diaspora exhibition. You can attend the free public opening of this event from 7 pm to 10 pm. The opening night includes a free art exhibit and a VIP Food Tasting. While the art is free the food tasting does require a ticket. You can purchase your ticket for the VIP Food Tasting through CityPlace.

 

Friday, September 14thFashion is a large part of art and culture. Friday night, you have the opportunity to experience fashion at the Melange Fashion Bazaar. This Bazaar features some of the best fashion designers in South Florida. You will have the chance to buy designs from Bella Redd Collections, Belle’s, Cultured Revolution, Sassafras, Eminent by Buera, and more. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to elevate your wardrobe. This event will take place from 5:30 pm to 9 pm.

Saturday, September 15thAre you looking to learn more about the art in Collaboration: African Diaspora? The event on Saturday, September 15th is the one for you. This event is a meet and greet with the artists of Collaboration: African Diaspora. The meet and greet run from 6 pm to 8 pm the evening of the 15th, and the artists will discuss their work as well as their creative inspiration.

Sunday, September 16thAll day Sunday, you can experience the Collaboration: African Diaspora Marketplace and Workshop. At the Marketplace, you can shop until you drop with lots of different gift and novelty to choose from. Additionally, you may attend workshops with three different artists: Cynthia Simmons, Kianga Jinaki, and Anthony Burks Sr.

Thursday, September 20thFrom 7 pm to 9 pm on Thursday, September 20th, you can enjoy a book signing with Ann Marie Sorrell. Ann Marie is the author of Chronicles of a Serial Dater, a book about dating and relationships that includes stories and tips for both men and women.

Friday, September 21stIf you dream of becoming an artist, or you simply want to learn more about being an artist, you should attend the Collaboration: African Diaspora Exhibition Artists Lunch & Lecture. From 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, take the opportunity to listen to the artists talk about their work and how they built their legacy.

Saturday, September 22 ndFrom 12:30 pm to 2 pm on Saturday, September 22nd, spend some time at a panel discussion about the African Diaspora exhibition. Art professionals such as Dr. Kahil V. Moses, Gli Ebanks Knowles, Nate Dee, Gopal Rajegowda, Niki Lopez, and Shawn Henderson will be in attendance to discuss their art.
