Did you know that there are thousands of people in South Florida who don’t know where their next meal is coming from? It’s a problem no one ever wants to face. CityPlace has partnered up with Feeding South Florida to run a food drive, acquiring donations to those who need it the most. Here’s how you can help, and get a little something in return.
CityPlace Feeding South Florida Food Drive
From June 1 through September 30, 2018, we’re accepting donations for Feeding South Florida at CityPlace Guest Services. Whenever you’re coming into CityPlace, for shopping, dining at one of the many restaurants in West Palm Beach, or enjoying the live entertainment, bring just three items in exchange for 4 hours complementary parking. That’s lots of time to enjoy a meal or pick up a new outfit, and a family in need will be able to use your donation. It’s a win-win!
What Should You Bring?
Feeding South Florida has a list of their most needed items. The next time you’re grocery shopping, take the time to pick up any of the following items that are needed:
- Peanut butter (no glass jars)
- Mac and cheese (both boxed and individual cups)
- Pasta (no glass jars)
- Rice and beans (no glass jars)
- Canned soups (no more than three years old)
- Canned meats (no more than three years old)
- Canned fruits and veggies (no more than three years old)
- Canned meals (no more than three years old)
- Pop top food items (no more than three years old)
- Granola bars
- Fruit cups and applesauce
It’s well worth looking through your pantry at home if you’re thinking of donating. You may already have some of these items on your shelves. Clean out your cabinets and donate to a good cause at the same time!
Please be aware when you are donating that all products must be sealed and unused to be accepted. We also can’t accept any homemade foods, or those without ingredient labels, for the drive. If you’re not sure if you should bring an item with you, check our website for the full list of accepted items.
The Work of Feeding South Florida
Feeding South Florida recognizes that hunger is part of a larger issue for thousands of residents across South Florida. When people don’t have access to nutritious food, it can impact their entire lives. Education and work suffer as people aren’t able to concentrate and give their all to their careers. Their health suffers, as they aren’t getting the nutrients they need. It also leads to a lack of employability, which means those facing hunger don’t have the money needed to feed themselves and their family’s healthy meals. It creates a cycle that’s difficult to break out of alone, and that’s where this organization steps in.
Feeding South Florida looks to change this by breaking the hunger cycle. By giving people access to good foods, they can help improve lives and give those who need it a step up to a better life. It’s amazing just how much of a difference you can make to a family in need just with your donation.
Donate and Enjoy CityPlace Parking For Free
It’s easy to support Feeding South Florida; all you have to do is donate three of the items listed above. Drop them at Guest Services located behind Anthropologie and you’ll get 4 hours complementary parking which you can then put to good use here at CityPlace.
Why not spend some time looking for a new outfit? We’ve got lots of individual and unique stores, so you’re sure to find something that’s to your liking. You could also drop by for a coffee with friends, or come sample some of the best restaurants in West Palm Beach.
Our food drive for Feeding South Florida is a great way for you to give back to your community, and get something for yourself in return! All it takes is three items, so pick up three of the listed foods when you’re grocery shopping and bring them to us. Nothing feels better than giving back to those who need it.
